NASA Delays Boeing Starliner Astronaut Launch
Press Conference to Address Scrub
NASA has postponed the launch of Boeing's CST-100 Starliner spacecraft due to technical difficulties. The spacecraft was scheduled to lift off from Space Launch Complex 41 at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Saturday, June 1, at 12:25 p.m. EDT.
Launch Campaing Begins 45 Days Prior
The launch campaign for Starliner typically begins 45 days before liftoff. At this point, the United Launch Alliance (ULA) begins stacking an Atlas V rocket at Space Launch Complex 41. However, the launch has been delayed due to an issue with the spacecraft's propulsion system.
This is the second time that NASA has had to delay the launch of Starliner. The spacecraft was originally scheduled to launch in 2021, but it was delayed due to a problem with its software. NASA is now working to resolve the latest issue and has not yet announced a new launch date.
Astronaut Training and Quarantine
The Starliner crew, consisting of astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams, are completing last-minute training and quarantining at NASA's Kennedy Space Center ahead of their historic mission. The astronauts will spend about six months on the International Space Station, conducting experiments and performing maintenance tasks.
